Cabin fever driving you nuts? Our Spring Break trips are the perfect cure. The San Juan fishes well this time of year and the river tends to be crowd-free. Our spring special is for the San Juan and starts March 1st and is available through April 15th. This special is for the San Juan Quality Waters and the mid river section.

Spring Break
When visiting the Southwest, either for a fly fishing trip or just a vacation, make sure to book a spring trip with Animas Valley Anglers. Our spring specials begin March 1st and last through April 15th. Trips covered on this special are the Animas, Dolores, Upper San Juan, Root Pond and Hatcher Lake. Perfect way to spend a couple days in the spring.

High or Low Water Floats
Spring and early summer on the San Juan is fantastic; great weather, eager trout and varied water conditions. Flows can remain low during the late spring or ramped up to match the spring snow melt. When the river is high this is one of our favorite times to be on the Juan. Due to the high flows the river is virtually abandoned. There might be a couple boats out, but there are plenty of places to hide and explore. Oh, the fishing can be fantastic too. Our high-water or low-water special for the San Juan starts April 16th and goes through May 31st. This special is for the San Juan Quality Waters and mid float.

Kids (12 and under) Fish Free in August!
Here at AVA we enjoy getting kids out on the streams and into trout. Many of the guides at AVA are, or have been teachers outside of the main guide season and that makes them great teachers and coaches for kids. So, we decided to offer a special program for kids. When a child accompanies an adult on one of our many trips they get to fish for free.

The guided day will be structured like any other trip when kids are involved; gear-up, quick casting lesson, safety talk, fishing, snacks, fishing and lunch. To help keep kids into the experience 1/2 day trips will be three hours and full days will be six hours. Our goal is not to "over fish" them, but to give them a quality experience that they will remember for years. We want to help build a strong fishing foundation were they do not feel pressured or forced into the activity.

Best fly waters for kids: Animas private waters, Colorado mountain creeks and float or wade trips on the San Juan Quality Waters or Mid River in New Mexico.

Trips on the San Juan in New Mexico do not include: New Mexico
fishing license for the adult and 5% New Mexico tax.
Trips in Colorado do not include: Colorado fishing license for the adult, if on private water-rod fee to the adult and customary gratuity for the guide.

The Kids Fish Free program is available for all kids 12 and under. The trip will be based on our single angler rate ($50 savings) for the adult that is fishing with the child.Trips with a third angler, child or adult, will be billed our extra angler rate.
